“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Psalm 16:8

A lot of things happen in a week in our State Home work in Bangalore. In this work there is a lot of emotions with highs and lows each week. We try to bring some normalcy and sense of accomplishment to the women and children we serve. Today we will look at a normal week inside the state facility where we minister. Having a daily routine can be a stress and sanity saver. Not only can certain repetitive actions benefit your physical health, but they can also improve your mental health. Many times the facilities become overcrowded and stress levels for the residents and the staff are high. So bring on the normal and routine!

Women’s Home

 Sewing Class

The certified sewing program we offer currently has about 25 women enrolled. The ladies learn the basics and then how to make clothing. Currently the state has requested our ladies to make pajamas for the children and babies in the children’s ward. The ladies are very interested in learning. It gives them a great sense of accomplishment. They value what we are teaching them because they know that once they leave the home, they will be able to find a job. At the end of class, we pray with the ladies.

English Class

This week we practiced English vowel sounds and the ladies practiced reading English for 30 minutes and writing English for 20 minutes.

Life Skill Class

The ladies requested we do something fun. We played some indoor games to build teamwork. We also took nail polish and painted everyone’s nails. It was a very fun and relaxing activity that brought happiness to the ladies. We prayed and shared about the safety of abiding in the presence of God. Psalms 91:15 “He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.”

 Girls Home

English Class

All the girls received a new workbook for practicing their English handwriting. They are very interested in learning English and all are working very hard to do their best. Everyone is improving in their writing and reading skills. Each week they must read out loud one paragraph to the class.

In our devotion this week, we shared the Creation story. We talked about all that God created and the beauty of His creation. We ended the class in prayer for the girls.

Life Skills Girls Home

The girls in the minor home have experienced much trauma. This week we talked about the negative effects stress can place on our bodies and minds and things we can do to help cope with stress. The girls understand and we are hopeful it will help them as we work to move them forward.

Bible Study at the Government Home.

This week we shared from Psalms and talked about the life of Joseph from Genesis. Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers. We can’t imagine the emotional and physical suffering. But instead, we learn a beautiful lesson from Joseph on how to deal with despair and depression. We see that Joseph had an unshakeable confidence in the fact that God was with him. Joseph’s testimony to us in dark days encourages us to be comforted in our suffering because of God’s promises. (abbreviated version)

Genesis 39:2 “The Lord was with Joseph…”

Psalm 16:8 “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

Psalm 62:6 “Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress; I will not be shaken.”

Psalm 27:5 “For in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of His sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.”

All of these classes take place every week. Please remember to pray for the women and girls we serve here.

Thank You! From a Mother and her Daughter.
First and foremost, we would like to convey our heartfelt gratitude for your blessing to us. My daughter has completed her 1st year of pre-university. This is one testimony that will be carried close to our hearts. This year she will be entering her last year of pre-university. It is too expensive for us. Again, you have blessed us. Please pray for her education and all will go well.

Thank you!
