Dear Friends of Rahab’s Rope,
Thank you all for your prayers and support. Moving
our store to Gainesville has been very positive. If
you haven’t been by to see us yet please stop in and
say hello, we are on the backside of Thompson Court.
We
are trying to put together a medical team for
September. If you are interested or know of anyone
who is please contact us. It will be a 10-day trip,
hopefully leaving on a Friday and returning on a
Sunday. The medical team will have clinic for 2 days
at Rahab’s Rope, one day at Beulah home for children
and one day at a leper colony. If you can’t go but
would be able to send some medical, health, or
hygiene type supplies please contact us. The
in-country cost is usually $400-$500, the airfare
fluctuates greatly, currently it is around $1400.
Please be much in prayer as we have an opportunity
to rescue 10 Devdasis (girls that have been used in
temples) in North Karnataka. This will be a first
for us and will be quiet challenging. If you are
familiar with Amy Carmichael, these are the girls
she devoted her life rescuing.
Storying of the Bible is a very effective and
positive way of sharing God’s love to someone that
has never heard or that cannot read. This has always
been a big part of what we do at Rahab’s Rope
Women’s Center in India. We are very excited to
share with you that now some of our women will be
going into the communities and sharing God’s love
through storying. This is a very big step on the
part of our women to go out and do this. Please pray
for them as they go.
Training classes are going well at the center the
women have been busy making more jewelry, handmade
paper bags and greeting cards. We should be
receiving them later in the summer. We have hundreds
of earrings and handmade paper gift bags at the
store now for your purchase and enjoyment. They are
doing a great job.
We
have a new street contact, Salma, who works for a
non-government organization that has begun bringing
women to the center. Please pray for Salma and her
understanding of who and what we are and do at our
center. Salma brought two children to be entered
into Beulah Home; their mothers were forced into
this business at 12 years old. We cannot begin to
imagine the life these women have been forced to
live.
We
have had an incident where two men came to our
center trying to buy children. This is a first for
us and is very scary; these men now know where we
are. Please pray for protection for our women,
children and building.
Ravi Kumar our main street worker coordinator is ill
with a viral fever. Please pray for his quick
recovery.
Please pray for water at Beulah Home for children.
All three of their wells have gone dry. They had a
geologist to do a water survey for where they could
strike water and they have drilled three new wells
and all were dry. This was a very expensive process
for the children’s home and they still have no
water. They have to buy water for about 150 people.
Please pray the rainy season that is coming will
provide some much needed relief and they will be
able to drill for a good water supply or that the
rains will fill their current wells.
It
seems this newsletter is filled with prayer request.
Prayer is one of the greatest things you can do for
us and we are so grateful that you remember us in
prayer. In Romans Paul exhorts us to behave as
Christians and says; “Let love be without hypocrisy.
Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly
affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in
honor giving preference to one another; not lagging
in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;
rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation,
continuing steadfastly in prayer”. Thank you for
your prayers!
Many Blessing to You and Your Family,
Vicki Moore
