Now, what is happening in India? I hope you
remember the story of Gaythri and will continue to follow her. She is
now living in a children’s home with girls her own age and going to
school, this is so exciting! I can’t wait to watch her grow and see how
God is going to use her life. Mary Theresa is studying in preparation
for testing to enter pre-university and then on to Nursing School. We
have one girl ready to enter Beauty School and are waiting for another
one to join her. Our newfound artist is busy working on designs for a
line of note cards and the list goes on.
Yashoda deserves a paragraph all her own. She is
the girl that has hearing loss and needed multiple sinus surgeries. I
cannot begin to tell you how well she is doing. She looks like a different
person, her pain is gone! You can look back and realize that she had
learned to cope and live in extreme pain and now that is removed from not
only her facial expressions but in the way she carries her entire body.
Thank you to all who prayed and those that gave financially for her
surgeries. The doctor had said she would not have lived another year
without the surgery. You have literally saved her life! Not only has her
life been saved physically but also there is complete transformation in
every aspect of her life. After her last surgery the doctor said with
speech therapy for two hours each day for two months she should be able to
speak her language plainly. Not only is she already speaking plainly but,
since Mackey’s return she is speaking in English! Amazing! She is a bright
beautiful young woman that now has hope and a future. Thank you!
Mackey, our schoolteacher, returned to the
center at the end of July after a few weeks home for a visit with her
family. I am not sure who is more excited, she or the girls. Her first
few days back is when Yahshoda stood in class and spoke in English, how
exciting! Shortly after her return she had a group of women join her
from First Baptist Colleyville, TX. The team was an encouragement to
both Mackey and the girls. They accomplished so much in such a short
period of time. They covered topics and activities including; massage
therapy, photography and art, child rearing, needlepoint, and proper
friendships. They sang new songs and played games. The team shared
personal testimonies of various events and difficulties in their lives;
this is always an encouragement to the girls at the center to let them
know there is hope and victory. We are always appreciative when others
give of their time and resources to invest in the girls and women of
Rahab’s Rope. Your investment changes lives! This week Stephanie
Caldwell will join Mackey. Stephanie plans to volunteer at the center
for two years. She will lead and direct the various teams that visit the
center and help organize and administer various projects. Next week we
have another group of women arriving at the center to work with the girls.
We are so thankful to have so many people investing in the lives of our
girls. Thank you!
The little things we take for granted… Last week
Mackey was teaching the class with word pictures when they came to a
picture of popcorn. No one in the class recognized the picture because
no one had ever had popcorn! So you guessed it, the next day Mackey
served popcorn! Amazing!
Thank you all for your continued prayer and
financial support!
Blessings,
Vicki
