Rahab’s Rope Update
Sept. 17, 2006
Wow! Where did the time and summer go? Things have
been busy for us; we have done a little traveling
stateside and are trying to get settled back to a
normal schedule. The store in Maysville is
continuing to do well and is gradually getting
busier. Word of mouth advertising has been great. We
have been given several opportunities over the
summer to speak to various women’s groups about
Rahab’s Rope and have even had a few combined with
fashion shows to exhibit some of the items we carry
at the store. It has been a lot of fun while at the
same time an effective tool in spreading the word
about the ministry and helping to raise funds. If
you or anyone you know would be interested in us
speaking and/or having a show of the items we sell
to fund the ministry please let me know. You that
know us, and the ministry, are our most powerful
tool in advertising and spreading the word.
We are very excited about our upcoming Christmas
trip to India. We currently have a full team of
fifteen people. Our Christmas Celebration reaches
more women at one time than any other occasion we
have all year. Please remember us in prayer as we
prepare and plan. On our Christmas team we have a
group of ladies that work at Gainesville Care
Center, a crisis pregnancy center. I am so excited
about this because I have been wanting to get into
the government housing for unwed mothers for over a
year and have not been allowed. This is a very
hopeless place with many of our target group living
there. I believe and am trusting God to use this
group of ladies, with their experience from the
Gainesville Care Center, to get us in the door. This
will be our Third Annual Christmas Celebration; if
you remember in our first year we had one hundred
women, last year we planned for two hundred fifty
and over five hundred came. This year we are not
sure how many will come but we are expecting it to
be a number that only God could deliver. We will
have a wonderful buffet for the ladies and each one
will receive a new Sari (dress), toiletry items and
the Christmas message. The cost, per lady, is
approximately ten dollars; if you are interested in
making a donation to help any number of these
precious women please contact us. We can’t wait to
share what God is going to do at the Christmas
Celebration.
Things are going well in Bangalore. I shared with
you in my last update about Gowramma; she came to us
expecting a baby that she didn’t want and now loves
dearly. Gowramma has now become a leader and she
shares her testimony often with all the new women
that come to the center. Some of the new women have
been very responsive and they are now praying and
learning God’s word on a daily basis and have begun
memorizing scripture. We have fifteen new ladies
coming for vocational training. Sewing and jewelry
making classes are continuing. Some of the women are
picking up the trades very well and have been able
to obtain jobs related to the vocational training
learned at Rahab ’s Rope. I recently received a
shipment of pocketbooks and earrings the ladies have
made since June. It was so exciting to open up the
package and see what they have done. I can see their
smiling faces now as they completed each item and
were proud that they had made an accomplishment.
They are doing an excellent job. I am so excited and
proud of them. It is so good to see them feel good
about themselves and something they are doing.
Through meeting the physical needs of our women God
continues to bless and work out the spiritual to
bring glory and honor to Him. Please pray for these
special ladies as one by one God is revealing
Himself to them. Several have come to know Him
throughout the summer. It is so much fun to share
with you all the exciting and positive things
happening with Rahab’s Rope and we never like to
talk about the negative. Of course, the negative is
the enemy. The darkness and the spiritual warfare
that has to be dealt with in that part of the world
is incredible, and maybe more so in our particular
target area. These women have so much darkness to
overcome, I can’t even imagine. Please remember our
staff as daily they must deal with the dark
spiritual world as it manifests itself into the
physical lives of our ladies. There are always
various situations that must be dealt with and I am
so thankful God has given us such godly people to
work with the women of Rahab’s Rope. We covet your
prayers in this area of our work.
Please remember David Dass and his family as his
brother-in-law is suffering from the last stages of
cancer. Also, remember my family and me as we seek
God in moving forward with the ministry of Rahab’s
Rope. Please pray for Mr. Halvadar, our landlord at
the center, he is an alcoholic and is in the
hospital with liver damage. It does not appear that
he will live much longer and he is not a Christian.
David Dass has shared with him the love of Jesus on
many occasions with no response, David request
prayer for a miracle for Mr. Halvadar to come to the
saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
We are also making our preliminary plans for a
medical trip after the first of the year, if you
think you are interested please let me know as soon
as possible.
Thank you all for all you do for the ministry of
Rahab’s Rope. Please come see us at the store in
Maysville. We are open Wednesday through Friday
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m.
– 3:00 p.m. Don’t forget the Annual Maysville Autumn
Leaf Festival coming up Oct. 6-8. The store will be
fully stocked in anticipation of the big weekend.
Please feel free to call me anytime.
The precious women of Rahab’s Rope send their love
and greetings to each of you for your support in
helping them.
Our Hope is in Him,
Vicki
