Rahab's
Rope Update
Oct. 26,
2005
Hello
Everyone,
I hope and pray you are
all doing well. I am sorry it has been a while since
you last heard from me. Things are going really well
in Bangalore. We have recently had two women from
the states, through the International Mission Board,
visiting Rahab's Rope teaching crocheting. The women
had a wonderful time learning the craft, hopefully
we will be able to sell some the items they made to
help support the center.
We have 150 to 175 women
(csws-commercial sex workers) visiting Rahab's Rope
every month. The full-time resident number
fluctuates from week to week with as many as 20
living at the home. As horrible as their life is it
is still difficult for them to change their entire
life and environment, especially when they don't
know the Lord. It is hard to imagine, but because it
is the only life they have ever known, it is their
comfort zone. We have had several women receive
Christ through the work at the center, PRAISE GOD!
We continue to have reading and writing classes as
well as job training. Of course we have Bible study
and prayer everyday and show the Jesus film on a
regular basis. Two new women joined the home
yesterday. At this point our field workers have
contact with over 700 csw's.
The Christmas season
will be upon us before we know it. Last year we were
able to reach out to over one hundred women. We
rented a facility where they gathered to hear the
Christmas story of Jesus birth along with the gospel
message. We were able to feed them a wonderful
Christmas dinner and present them with a gift. This
year we are expecting several hundred women to come
due to our presence among them this past year. If
you are interested in helping with this project
please let me know.
We will be taking a
medical team to Bangalore after the first of the
year. The date is currently set for Feb. 3 - Feb.
12th. Dr. Jeffery Bizon and Barbara Ward are leading
the team. We will be setting up a clinic for the
women at Rahab's Rope, Beulah Home for children and
possibly a leper colony. We are still working on the
cost. If you are interested in going or know of
someone who is please contact me as soon as
possible.
We have a great need for
prayer. Please prayer for our field workers as they
have a very difficult and sometimes dangerous task
on the streets. Pray for the women they reach that
they will be open and receptive. Pray for the
workers at the center as they work deeper with the
women trying to reach them for Christ. Pray for
wisdom and discernment. Pray for our efforts in
rehabilitation with reading, writing and job
training classes. We are still looking for another
location to move closer to the city, pray someone
with good morals will rent to us. So far no one is
willing to rent for housing such as ours. Currently,
Bangalore is experiencing heavy rains and David and
Shoba Dass have experienced damage to their home and
are having to temporarily move while their home is
repaired. The Dass's have so much ministry to
oversee, please pray for their strength and
encouragement. We have wonderful relationships with
officials at the Police Commissioner's Office, pray
those relationships continue they are very important
to the ministry. David Dass will be visiting the
states in November, pray his schedule allows him to
visit us.
As the season of
Thanksgiving approaches I have so much to be
thankful for. I praise God for all He has done and
all He has allowed me to be a part of in His Kingdom
work. I can't thank you enough for your prayers and
financial support. Your participation makes you part
of this ministry. So, thank you for bringing the
Good News of Jesus Christ to these precious women.
Blessings to you all,
Vicki
"The Spirit of the Lord
God is upon Me. Because the Lord has anointed Me to
preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to
heal the brokenhearted. To proclaim liberty to the
captives and the opening of the prison to those who
are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the
Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who
mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for
ashes,
The oil of joy for
mourning,
The garment of praise
for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called
trees of righteousness,
The planting of the
Lord, that He may be glorified."
